Job summary

Optum is hiring a Histology Lab Assistant to support tissue processing, specimen accessioning, and LIS data entry in a fast-paced environment. You will ensure accurate labeling, quality control, and timely result reporting while upholding HIPAA and safety standards.

The role requires 1+ years in histology, strong communication, and the ability to work a 40-hour week on days 6:30 am–3:00 pm in Everett, WA. Training and team leadership are part of the position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of computer proficiency experience.
• 1+ years of Histology laboratory experience including specimen processing.
• Ability to communicate professionally with patients and healthcare providers.
• Ability to work a 40-hour week as listed.

Responsibilities

• Receive, log, and accession tissue specimens accurately with proper labeling.
• Operate tissue processing equipment and maintain quality and safety.
• Use LIS to record processing steps and track results.
• Coordinate with reference labs and manage shipments per regulations.
• Manage reagents and inventory for tissue processing and staining.
• Provide training and guidance to staff and students.
• Deliver excellent customer service to clinicians and team members.
• Adhere to OSHA, CLIA, CAP standards and HIPAA confidentiality.
