Independence Health System Inc. is seeking an experienced histology technician to support specimen accessioning, embedding, and slide preparation for pathologists. You will work with LIS/HIS software, dictation systems, and maintain strict quality controls in a fast-paced lab environment.

The role emphasizes organizing workflow, adhering to safety standards, and collaborating with pathology staff to ensure accurate results and timely processing of specimens across system locations.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Histology or higher with 3+ years histology experience.
• Strong leadership, organization and independent decision-making.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Accession and systematically organize specimens to safeguard identification and integrity.
• Prepare for and assist in grossing with pathologist; maintain organized grossing area.
• Operate and maintain histology equipment; perform routine and preventive maintenance.
• Embed, cut and stain tissue sections; demonstrate competence in stains and immunohistochemistry.
• Prepare slides for reading by pathologist and ensure timely distribution of slides.
• Document receipt, delivery and logging of frozen sections; follow QC protocols.
