Job summary

The University of Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) seeks a Section Manager of Histology to lead the Histology, IHC, and CWD labs. You will provide leadership, technical expertise, and operational oversight for diagnostic services supporting animal health and research.

Responsibilities include budgeting, strategic planning, quality systems, staff supervision, and collaboration with pathologists, researchers, and external partners to maintain high-quality diagnostic testing and

Qualifications

BS degree plus at least six years of experience in histology and related labs.
Advanced degree plus at least four years of experience in histology, pathology, or related field.
Terminal degree plus at least one year of experience in a biomedical lab or clinical setting.

Responsibilities

Develops and monitors budgets for the Histology Lab, including staffing, supplies, and equipment costs.
Creates strategic plans to improve efficiency, expand diagnostic services, and support research.
Oversees workload, turnaround times, productivity metrics, and staffing needs to ensure timely diagnostics.
