Job summary

The University of Minnesota, Laboratory for Udder Health, seeks a dedicated laboratory professional to support diagnostic and production activities. You will perform microbiological testing, prepare culture media, and contribute to quality assurance processes to ensure accurate and timely results for animal health and client needs.

You will work with a team in a fast-paced environment, maintaining safety and quality while independently handling routine duties and collaborating on SOP development

Qualifications

• Must have a BA/BS degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience totaling at least four years.
• Experience coursework in laboratory science or prior lab experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail required.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological testing and related procedures per established protocols.
• Prepare samples for diagnostic testing and document results in LIMS.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments.
• Provide responsive customer service via phone and email to clients.
• Assist with inventory management and restocking of supplies.
• Follow biosafety and regulatory protocols; maintain laboratory safety.
• Quality control on prepared media and record-keeping for audits.
• Support expanded diagnostics and SOP improvements as needed.
• Respond to quality assurance activities and participate in continuous improvement.
