Job summary

University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities is seeking a Civil Service Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform diagnostics across hematology, chemistry, immunology and more, with supervision of staff and consultation with clinicians. The role requires 24/7 support, training responsibilities, and adherence to GLP standards.

Responsibilities include diagnostic testing, result interpretation, QC/QA oversight, and ongoing collaboration with clinical pathologists.

Qualifications

BS/BA in Medical Technology or related field with certification.
ASCP certification preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience or six years equivalent.

Responsibilities

Performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid clinicians, staff and students in diagnosis and monitoring of diseases.
Reviews and analyzes test results for accuracy and evaluates results for critical values.
Provides interpretation and reporting and reviews results with clinicians as appropriate.
Trains lab staff and supports after-hours teams (24/7).
Maintains quality control, QA, and instrument maintenance; troubleshoots issues as needed.
