Job summary

Atlantic Health in Morristown, NJ seeks a Pathology Support Tech to ensure proper preparation, labeling, transport of specimens, and support Pathologists with diagnostic procedures such as frozen sections. Under supervision, you maintain equipment, inventory and safety compliance.

Responsibilities include specimen handling, accessioning, stain prep, FNA assistance, operation and troubleshooting of lab equipment, quality control, and training of team members.

Qualifications

• Proficient in handling, labeling and transporting pathology specimens.
• Proficient with HIS and LIS software systems.
• Prepare solutions, stains and reagents for rapid diagnoses.
• Assist Pathologists with FNA and frozen section procedures.
• Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment according to SOPs.
• Adhere to quality control policies and maintain calibration records.
• Manage inventory and monitor supply expiration dates.
• Assist with training of team members and students.

Responsibilities

• Receive, document, label, and transport pathology specimens.
• Assist in specimen preparation for analysis, including fixation and staining.
• Prepare grossing area for Pathologists and support slide preparation.
• Assist Pathologists with FNA and frozen section procedures.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot technical equipment.
• Document calibrations, maintenance, and quality control activities.
• Rotate stock and monitor supply expiration dates.
• Provide training support to team members and students.
