Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a motivated Histology Grossing Technician for the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. The role involves gross examination, tissue processing, and related pathology report preparation in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have an Associate's degree in Biological Science and 2+ years of grossing experience, with HT/ASCP certification preferred. Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, with no weekends or on-call required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Biological Science required.
• Two years' grossing experience preferred.
• HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen grossing, including photography and preparation of related surgical pathology reports.
• Answer questions from attending pathologists regarding dictation and orientation of gross surgical specimens.
• Accession surgical pathology specimens.
• Assists in compiling data for Surgical Pathology Quality Assurance reports.
• Maintains and updates the Department's gross specimen handbook.
• Performs regular equipment maintenance and troubleshoots equipment.
• Acts as a liaison between the pathology department and hospital staff.
• Supports the operations of the anatomic pathology lab and histology department as requested.
