Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a motivated Pathologists' Assistant to join the Operating Room Pathology lab in Winston-Salem, NC. The role focuses on gross processing of specimens, teaching residents, and participating in research protocols, with no autopsy, weekend, or on-call duties.

We require a NAACLS-accredited PA program and ASCP certification (or within one year). Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's is preferred. The position is full-time, 9:30am–6:00pm, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and NAACLS Pathologists' Assistant program completed.
• ASCP Pathology Assistant certification required within 1 year of hire.
• Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs gross processing of operating room and clinic specimens.
• Teaches junior residents proper grossing techniques.
• Implements operating room tissue-based research protocols and procurement steps.
• Reviews resident rotation schedules with the chief/senior residents.
• Assists in dictation orientation and questions from attending pathologists.
• Provides data for monthly Surgical Pathology QA reports.
• Maintains the gross specimen handbook and related protocols.
• Performs administrative tasks including filing reports and billing data.
