Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a Biological Science from a regionally accredited college/university required.
• Two years' grossing experience preferred.
• HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen grossing, including photography and preparation of related surgical pathology reports.
• Available to answer questions from attending pathologists regarding the dictation and orientation of gross surgical specimens.
• Accession surgical pathology specimens.
• Assists in compiling data for Surgical Pathology Quality Assurance reports.
• Maintains and updates the Department's gross specimen handbook.
• Performs regular equipment maintenance.
• Troubleshoots equipment.
• Acts as a liaison between the pathology department and hospital staff.
• Supports the operations of the anatomic pathology lab and histology department, as requested.
