Job summary

Sagis Diagnostics in Houston, TX is seeking a Full Time Grossing Technician for our physician-led histology lab. This onsite role prepares surgical specimens for processing, labels specimens accurately, and maintains specimen integrity.

You will describe gross features and dissect specimens, handling a range of cases under supervision while coordinating with pathologists. A 4-year degree and ASCP certification are preferred, with overtime flexibility and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or related science.
• ASCP certification is highly preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory.
• Experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment preferred.
• Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance processes.
• Strong communication skills and high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical specimens for histologic processing and ensure proper accessioning and labeling.
• Describe gross features of specimens and document findings.
• Dissect specimens and prepare tissues for processing.
• May perform basic histology tasks if qualified.
• Complete paperwork such as workload recording and temperature charts.
• Ensure safety, quality standards and regulatory compliance.
• Interact with pathologists regarding gross description activities.
