Job summary

Mountain View Hospital is seeking a Histology Assistant to join our team in Idaho Falls. You will obtain valid histology orders, process orders, and enter data while ensuring accurate patient identification and proper labeling of specimens.

You will support the histology lab by preparing specimens, staining slides, and maintaining supplies, with supervision from a histologist. Prior lab experience is preferred, and a current BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or higher.
• Hold a current BLS Certification.
• 0-1 years of laboratory experience required.
• Language: English (reading/writing) with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare histology and cytology specimens under supervision.
• Receive, identify, and label tissue specimens for gross exam.
• Process pathology requisitions and demographics associated with accessioning.
• Monitor histology consumables and stock levels.
• Fill orders for laboratory supplies for hospital and external accounts.
• Clean, organize, and maintain work areas and storage.
• Rotate stock as needed.
• Perform coverslipping, manual and automated.
• Stain cytology and H&E slides, manual and automated.
• Prepare reagents for histology testing under supervision of a histologist.
