Job summary

Mountain View Hospital in Idaho Falls is seeking a Histology Assistant to join our team. You will obtain valid histology orders, process orders, data entry, and ensure proper patient identification and labeling of reference lab samples.

You will provide excellent customer service to patients and staff. Duties include preparing histology and cytology specimens, labeling tissue for gross exam, processing requisitions, monitoring supplies, staining slides, and preparing reagents under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or higher required.
• Current BLS Certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 0-1 years of laboratory experience.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Experience with computers and office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine tasks in preparing histology and cytology specimens under supervision.
• Receives and labels tissue specimens for gross exam.
• Processes requisitions and demographics for specimen accessioning.
• Monitors consumables and maintains supplies.
• Rotates stock and handles lab organization.
• Performs coverslipping and stains slides as required.
• Prepares reagents for histology testing under supervision.
