Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking a Histologic Technologist to perform complete preparation of routine surgical and autopsy tissues, including processing, cutting, staining and cover-slipping. The role also covers cytology, histochemistry, and immunohistochemistry with quality assurance.

Strong independence and accuracy are essential for success. Required are HT(ASCP) HT certification (or provisional within 2 years), a health science program, and a minimum of one year histology experience.

Qualifications

• HT(ASCP) certification required or provisional within 2 years.
• Minimum 1 year lab histology experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently with integrity and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Embed, section, stain and cover slip routine surgical tissues.
• Perform cytology prep, histochemistry and immunohistochemistry.
• Verify all reports match dictations and distribute to pathologists.
• Maintain quality control, document issues and assist with billing basics.
