Job summary

Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) is hiring a Histotechnologist to join the Dermatology Clinic team in Bolivar, Missouri. The role requires lead with skill, compassion, and a drive to positively impact every patient and family we serve.

The position is part-time, 20 hours per week, with days shifts. Responsibilities include tissue preparation, staining, quality control, and instrument maintenance in a clinical dermatology setting.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s Degree (HT) or Bachelor’s Degree (HLT) is required.
• Experience: One year grossing experience, including complex specimens, and one year MOHS technician experience is preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Histotechnologist (HTL) ASCP certification or Histotechnician (HT) ASCP certification required.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods throughout a work shift; fine motor dexterity; visual acuity.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue from grossing to embedding and staining per protocol.
• Perform H&E staining and immunochemistry as required.
• Conduct quality control to reject results outside acceptable ranges.
• Troubleshoot staining issues and maintain lab equipment.
• Clean, stock, and organize lab spaces and document results.

What Your Day Looks Like: The Dermatology Clinic diagnoses and treats a wide range of skin conditions. Histo Techsprepare tissue for diagnosis by a Pathologist.

As aHisto Tech, you will be:

• Completing all steps in the preparation of tissue, including grossing, labeling, processing and decalcification processing, embedding, Microtomy, H&E staining, and immunochemistry.
• Conductingquality control to recognize and reject results based on ranges of acceptability
• Troubleshooting stain issues
• Performing routine instrument and preventative maintenance and documenting results
• Completing testing procedures following prioritization guidelines
• Cleaning and stocking lab work spaces as needed
