Job summary

Monarch Healthcare Management is seeking a Health Information Manager to oversee the health information system for residents across our Minnesota facilities. This role ensures accurate records, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance, including HIPAA and state/federal requirements.

The HIM will lead documentation quality, census accuracy, and timely record-keeping during admissions, stay, and discharge while collaborating with leadership on privacy and QAPI efforts.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a HI Assistant or HUC; training in medical records; experience with coding.
• Knowledge of regulations, survey process, documentation requirements and legal issues.
• Understanding of payment systems including Medicare and Medicaid
• High School graduate or equivalent
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Long-term care or healthcare experience

Responsibilities

• Health Information Security & HIPAA Compliance: safeguard confidentiality, integrity and security of medical records per HIPAA and regulations.
• Release of Information & Record Retention: manage requests and retain records per standards.
• Census Management & Data Integrity: maintain accurate daily census data and pay status with audit trails.
• Admission & Ongoing Records Management: coordinate admissions, maintain records, audit and monitor orders.
• Discharge Record Completion & Quality Review: oversee discharge documentation and physician completion.
• Department Leadership, QAPI & Collaboration: supervise HI staff, support HIPAA compliance and QAPI initiatives.
