Job summary

• Advanced computer skills including proficient keyboarding and experience with Microsoft Office products, email and/or electronic health information record systems
• Ability to read and comprehend medical terminology, anatomy, and disease processes, and/or state and federal regulations related to HIPAA and release of medical information
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make decisions with good judgement
• Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills including handling difficult situations
• Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with time constraints
• Must have high attention to detail and accuracy

Responsibilities

• Handle release of information requests in compliance with HIPAA and HIPAA State/Federal regulations
• Validate authorizations meet legal requirements and identify requester type
• Log requests in OnBase and EPIC; scan authorizations into release module
• Identify and select PHI from the legal health record for release
• Ensure all information imported/scanned into the EHR is included
• Review pages of scanned documentation for accuracy before release
• Release records in requested format and create electronic files for export via CD, email, portal
• Provide excellent customer service and explain turnaround times
