Zusammenfassung

Northwell Health is seeking a Records Release Specialist to process medical information requests promptly and accurately while protecting patient privacy under HIPAA guidelines.

You will review requests, scan and file them, determine what records to release, coordinate with departments and outside storage vendors, and handle related clerical duties including walk-ins, faxes, mail, and inquiries. Prior HIM certification is a plus; a high school diploma is required.

Qualifikationen

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• RHIT or RHIA certification is preferred, but not required.

Aufgaben

• Reviews and validates requests for the release of medical information according to established departmental policies and procedures.
• Scans and enters requests into the information database for processing.
• Determines records to be released by reviewing requester information per HIPAA guidelines.
• Coordinates with applicable departments and off-site storage vendors to obtain portions of the medical record.
• Processes approved requests while maintaining privacy and compliance to guard against disclosures.
• Assists with related administrative duties such as serving walk-ins, and handling faxes, mail, calls, and internal requests.
