Job summary

Solara Specialty Hospitals McAllen seeks a Health Information Technician to maintain HIM integrity, abstract and analyze medical records, and ensure compliant documentation. You will collaborate with physicians and hospital staff to support accurate, timely release of information.

The role requires RHIT certification (preferred) or ENGlish proficiency, and prior HIM or medical record experience. On-site position with opportunities for professional growth and adherence to HIPAA policies.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak fluent English.
• Medical data abstracting skills are required.
• Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, analyze, abstract, scan, and maintain medical records to ensure verifiable documentation.
• Coordinate with hospital staff, physicians, and administration to ensure timely, accurate, and complete medical records.
• Respond to inquiries from physicians, staff, and outside parties per HIPAA guidelines regarding protected health information.
• Demonstrate proficiency with dictation and transcription systems.
• Maintain record indexes and storage and retrieval systems.
• Ensure supplies are ordered to meet department needs within budget and timelines.
• Follow confidentiality and HIPAA requirements consistently and attend mandatory trainings.
