Job summary

Solara Specialty Hospitals McAllen seeks a Health Information Management professional to maintain HIM integrity through accurate medical record abstraction, indexing, and retrieval. You will work with clinicians and administration to ensure HIPAA-compliant documentation and timely record completion.

The ideal candidate has an Associate degree in health information technology or enrollment in a HIM program, fluency in English, and RHIT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak fluent English.
• Medical data abstracting skills.
• Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
• Demonstrates ability to work with hospital staff and administration.
• Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, analyze, abstract, scan, and maintain medical records.
• Ensure records are completed timely, accurately, and in compliance with hospital policy and medical staff bylaws/rules.
• Respond per HIPAA guidelines to inquiries regarding protected health information.
• Demonstrates proficiency with dictation and transcription systems.
• Maintains record indexes and storage and retrieval systems.
• Orders supplies as needed to meet budget requirements.
• Attends mandatory in-services and staff meetings.
