Job summary

Solara Specialty Hospitals McAllen is seeking a HIM professional to maintain health information management integrity through accurate medical record content, terminology, abstracting, and analysis techniques.

You will collaborate with hospital staff to ensure timely, complete documentation in compliance with HIPAA, privacy requirements, and hospital policy while supporting patient care and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintains health information management (HIM) integrity by knowing medical record content, terminology, abbreviations, abstracting and analysis techniques.
• Ensures medical records are completed timely, accurately, and completely per hospital policy and medical staff bylaws/rules.
• Responds to inquiries about protected health information in HIPAA-compliant manner.
• Demonstrates proficiency with dictation and transcription systems.
• Maintains record indexes; storage and retrieval systems.
• Orders supplies for the department to meet budget and operational needs.
• Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, and administration.
• Attends mandatory in-services and staff meetings.
• Represents the organization professionally to patients, visitors and staff.
