Job summary

Chapters Health is seeking an HIM Specialist to manage medical records, ensure timely assembly, scanning, and auditing of admissions paperwork while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

The role requires organization, strong communication, and basic computer skills; supervision of volunteers is involved, with collaboration across clinical staff to support accurate records and billing processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; college courses preferred.
• At least 2 years of general office experience in a healthcare facility; medical record experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English; strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and assemble patient medical records; track and scan documents.
• Audit admissions documents for timeliness and completeness; ensure proper signatures and filings.
• Process physician signatures in the EMR; monitor and file signed orders within deadlines.
• Supervise volunteers in the HIM office and support the HIM Supervisor.
• Assist with paperwork for Team Meetings and Hospice Medical Directors.
