Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Health Information Management coordinator to oversee release of information, data integrity, EMPI, document imaging, chart analysis, and transcription tasks. This role supports the HIM site manager, ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient workflows.

The position requires at least three years’ HIM experience, an associate degree (RHIT/RHIA preferred), and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.
• Experience in health information management and document imaging workflows preferred.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards (HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate document imaging workflow including chart retrieval, prep, scanning, indexing and quality review.
• Perform monthly quality audits on Document Imaging staff and report findings.
• Provide feedback to Clinical Managers on paper to HIM processing and chart completion.
• Train new employees on document imaging procedures and ensure timely information disclosures.
