Job summary

Chase Brexton Health Care in Baltimore, MD seeks a Health Information Management (HIM) Supervisor to oversee the HIM Department, ensure medical record integrity, privacy, and regulatory compliance, and manage ROI, release of information, and policy governance.

The role leads staff, drives audits, training, and policy development, coordinating with Compliance, Legal, Quality, IT and Operations to support organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in HIM or related field.
• RHIT credential through AHIMA.
• Minimum five years HIM experience.
• Minimum two years supervisory experience.
• Experience with ROI, auditing, document imaging, scanning, indexing and EHR systems.
• Experience developing and monitoring policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise HIM staff, scheduling, payroll, evaluations, coaching and corrective action.
• Monitor productivity and quality metrics.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing and onboarding new staff in collaboration with leadership.
• Monitor daily operations for compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, Joint Commission, HRSA and state/federal regulations.
• Assist with survey readiness and follow up on corrective action plans.
• Supervise daily ROI operations and disclosure tracking.
• Coordinate subpoenas, court orders and legal requests with Compliance and Legal.
• Audit released records, scanning, indexing, chart completion and record integrity.
• Prepare reports and implement process improvements.
• Provide HIPAA and HIM training and annual competencies.
• Serve as a liaison between HIM, Compliance, Quality, Legal, Revenue Cycle and Clinical Operations.
