Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System Corporation is seeking a Records Imaging Technician to ensure timely retrieval, preparation, and scanning of patient charts. You will review image quality, index documents to the correct CSN and type, and assist with death certificate processing in compliance with state rules.

The role involves reviewing electronic work lists, maintaining productivity, and supporting Release of Information duties while collaborating with the care teams.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• One years performing document imaging in a hospital medical record department. Previous experience in hospital medical record department or similar medical office setting with additional experience in quality analysis or similar position.

Responsibilities

• Performs chart preparation and scanning functions as outlined in guidelines.
• Reviews images scanned for accuracy and rescan as necessary.
• Indexes documents to correct CSN, location, and type; manages splits/merges.
• Reviews daily electronic work lists and ensures timely processing.
• Validate completion and submit death certificates per state regulations and coordinate with funeral homes.
• Perform Release of Information processing; maintain productivity and quality reports.
• Escalates issues to Team Leader and assists in training new staff.
