Job summary

Southwest Healthcare, part of Universal Health Services, Inc., is seeking a Health Information Management (HIM) Coding and System Specialist to oversee inpatient and outpatient bill-holds and support the Coding team in achieving daily, weekly, and monthly performance goals. This role collaborates across regions to ensure timely and accurate data submission.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Medical Records Science preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an introductory course of Medical Terminology required.
• Two to Three years of experience in Medical Records required, acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Daily management of inpatient and outpatient bill-holds to support Coding productivity standards.
• Review inpatient and outpatient bill-holds to identify uncoded accounts.
• Research reasons for unbilled records and follow up with departments and provider offices.
• Coordinate with Physician Liaison to ensure incomplete records are added to suspension processes.
• Monitor and process coding support work lists and data accuracy in the HIM system.

Education

Associate’s degree in Medical Records Science

High School Diploma or equivalent

Completion of introductory Medical Terminology course

2–3 years experience in Medical Records
