Job summary

Southwest Healthcare is seeking a Health Information Management Coding and System Specialist to manage daily inpatient and outpatient bill-holds, support the Coding team in achieving productivity standards, and ensure timely documentation and coding.

You will review unbilled accounts, research missing data, coordinate with departments and physician offices, work with the Physician Liaison to suspend incomplete records, and maintain data integrity for OSHPD reporting and corporate HIM milestones.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in Medical Records Science preferred.
• Completion of an introductory course of Medical Terminology required.
• 2–3 years of experience in Medical Records required, acute care experience preferred.
• Prior knowledge of State and Federal release of information laws preferred.

Responsibilities

• Daily processing of inpatient and outpatient bill-holds to support timely coding.
• Review unbilled accounts and identify records not yet coded.
• Research missing documentation and coordinate with departments and provider offices to complete coding.
• Collaborate with Physician Liaison to ensure incomplete records are added to suspension processes.
• Monitor coding support work lists and ensure data accuracy for OSHPD reporting.

Education
