Job summary

Great Plains Health is seeking an HIM Coding Specialist to accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9/10-CM and CPT systems, and to assign DRGs as part of the coding workflow.

Qualified candidates should hold RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCA credentials with AHIMA, and have experience with coding systems and medical record abstraction. On-site role with opportunities for professional growth in Health Information Management.

Qualifications

• RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCA certification with AHIMA.
• Experience with ICD-9/10-CM and CPT coding required.
• Ability to assign accurate DRG and codes from medical records.
• Proficiency with Affinity, 3M Encoder and ChartMaxx systems.
• Knowledge of medical record abstracting and coding rules.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient and outpatient records using ICD-9/10-CM and CPT-4.
• Assign DRGs and verify coding accuracy for billing.
• Review records for documentation and coding completeness.
• Abstract data such as discharge times, procedures, and provider relations.
• Maintain knowledge of coding guidelines and participate in audits.
• Support education and ongoing professional development.
