Job summary

Southwest Healthcare is seeking a Health Information Management (HIM) Coding and System Specialist to manage daily Inpatient and Outpatient bill-holds across the region and support the Coding team in achieving productivity standards. The role requires coordination with multiple departments, provider offices, and a strong focus on accurate data and timely record completion.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate (required).
• Associate’s degree in Medical Records preferred.
• Completion of an introductory Medical Terminology course required.
• 2–3 years of experience in Medical Records required; acute care preferred.
• Prior knowledge of State and Federal release of information laws preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage Inpatient & Outpatient bill-holds to meet Coding Team productivity standards.
• Review unbilled accounts and identify reasons for delays.
• Coordinate with departments and provider offices to obtain missing documentation.
• Collaborate with Physician Liaison to ensure incomplete records are addressed.
• Monitor coding support lists and ensure data accuracy in the HIM Department.
• Maintain data integrity, merge duplicate encounters, and re-bill as needed.
