Job summary

Boundary Community Hospital seeks an experienced HIM Coder/Technician II to ensure patient records comply with state and federal standards and to support coding for inpatient and outpatient accounts using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines.

The role supports the HIM Manager with daily department tasks including ROI, scanning, data gathering for registries, and maintaining data dictionaries while collaborating with clinicians and staff in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required with CCS certification from AAPC or AHIMA, or 5+ years of ICD/CPT/HCPCS coding in hospital settings.
• RHIT certification preferred.
• Experience interpreting varied instructions and strong medical terminology.
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and EMR systems; 50 wpm keyboard.
• Ability to present statistics and coding information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Code ED, Outpatient, and Inpatient accounts accurately to ensure proper reimbursement.
• Complete chart reviews for analytical and care purposes.
• Contact physicians/ departments to obtain accurate diagnoses for coding.
• Transmit and transcribe urgent dictations as needed.
• Manage release of information and maintain data dictionaries.
