Job summary

Madison Parish Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Coder-HIM to review, analyze, and assign standardized codes for patient records in accordance with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS. Reports to the Director of Health Information Management and supports accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

The role requires two years of medical coding experience, CCS/CCA/RHIT/RHIA/CPC are acceptable, and an associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in medical coding or equivalent.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding.
• Basic knowledge of electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Abstract data from patient records into health information systems.
• Ensure coding reflects diagnoses, procedures, and services.
• Verify medical necessity and support proper reimbursement.
• Review physician documentation and query providers when needed.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards to meet turnaround times.
• Participate in coding audits and deny management.
