Job summary

Strativ Group in the Bay Area is hiring a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) engineer to own the test capability for a new traction motor platform. There is no rig yet; you will build it from the ground up, from room to plant models to an automated validation framework running in a continuous pipeline.

You’ll use Python and C/C++, develop plant models (Simulink), and integrate CI to test every firmware commit. The role offers strong equity, a small team, and the freedom to set the engineering standard

Qualifications

• 3+ years hardware-in-the-loop experience in test capability development.
• Experience building rigs that validate real-time control software and automated test frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++.
• Plant modelling in Simulink is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with automotive validation workflows (OEM/Tier1) is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Specifying and standing up HIL rigs the real time motor control software runs on.
• Develop plant models for a traction motor and inverter with no reference data.
• Create automated test frameworks in Python for embedded software validation.
• Integrate CI and continuous validation pipelines for automatic testing.
• Define test cases for motor control, power electronics and safety features.
• Implement fault injection and coverage for nominal and faulted behaviour.
• Debug across software, firmware and hardware interfaces.
• Define coverage metrics and validation plans at unit, integration and system levels.
• Apply ISO 26262 concepts where they apply.
• Set the engineering standard for future builds.
