Job summary

Rivian is seeking a results-driven HIL test engineer to develop and maintain automated Python-based test cases for automotive power electronics. You will contribute to our HIL framework, implement tests, and collaborate with controls and firmware teams to ensure traceability to requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical and computer engineering or related discipline; Master's preferred.
• 3+ years of experience with Python programming, with emphasis on writing modular, reusable code.
• Experience in writing Python-based automation scripts.
• Familiar with oscilloscope and basic probing tools for debugging.
• Strong understanding of basic electrical concepts.
• Knowledge of HIL and real-time testing tools such as Typhoon, NI, OPAL-RT, dSPACE.
• Ability to optimize software build and test workflow using Python.
• Experience with Py-Test in developing modular and scalable test/automation infrastructure for Embedded and real-time control applications.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and Git infra is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with test equipment (CANalyzer, CANape) and XCP/CCP tools.
• Comfortable with schematics and layout files.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive automated test case sequences using Python covering operating conditions, faults, and safety.
• Execute automated HIL tests, collect/analyze data, document issues, and maintain regression tests with CI/CD integration.
• Collaborate with controls and software engineers to validate power electronics software and control algorithms.
• Improve HIL simulation model to reflect real-world behavior.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues during HIL regression tests with HW/SW teams.
• Maintain clear documentation of test setups, results, and traceability from requirements to validation.
