Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson seeks an intern to assist the design department with a variety of tasks, including project design and documentation, to gain practical experience in civil engineering and transportation projects. The position offers an hourly rate of $22.00–$27.00, based on education level, with immigration sponsorship not available except for eligible TN visa candidates.

Work is in a general office environment supporting engineering teams.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or currently pursuing an ABET-accredited civil engineering undergrad.
• Interest in transportation projects and practical design work.
• Ability to work in a team and learn standard procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior or lead engineers with basic design tasks and research.
• Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, and construction phases.
• Support creation of presentation and marketing materials.
• Assist with construction-phase activities, site visits, RFI responses, and shop drawing reviews.
• Follow quality control procedures and ask questions as needed.
• Learn department standards and best practices.
• Develop basic design and technical skills through hands-on work.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members.
• Receive guidance from supervisors and collaborate with engineers.
