Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking an intern to support the assigned design department by assisting with a variety of tasks, including special project assignments and active participation in project design and documentation, to gain practical experience and support their educational development.

The position offers an hourly rate of $22.00 - $27.00 based on education level, with TN visa eligibility and immigration sponsorship not available, except for qualified TN visa candidates.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a related field.
• Full-time ABET-accredited undergraduate degree in civil engineering with an interest in transportation project.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior or lead engineers with basic design tasks, including research, simple studies, and layout support.
• Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, graphics, design development, and construction phases.
• Support the creation of presentation and marketing materials.
• Assist with construction phase activities, including site visits, RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and updating record drawings.
• Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed.
• Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices.
• Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands-on experience.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members.
• Receive guidance from supervisors and project leaders.
• Collaborate with engineers and other multidisciplinary team members.
