Job summary

The State of Indiana’s INDOT Bedford Unit is seeking a Highway Technician to maintain Indiana highways, perform pothole filling, drainage upkeep, snow operations, and traffic-control duties during emergencies. This entry-level role requires a valid CDL (or ability to obtain within 90 days) and includes mandatory overtime for winter operations.

Position starts at an hourly rate of $20.00, with CDL endorsements adding $1 per hour.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform demanding tasks outdoors.
• Ability to work in teams and follow directions.
• Willingness to work overtime for emergency operations, including winter.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment to clean and repair roadways.
• Move/load supplies and perform winter operations including snow removal.
• Assist with traffic control during emergencies and road closures.
• Inspect equipment and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
