State of Indiana, Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), Shelbyville Unit, seeks a Highway Technician to perform maintenance on Indiana highways, including snow removal, pothole filling, debris cleanup, and traffic control during emergencies. Entry level with opportunities for advancement; overtime is mandatory for emergency operations.

Applicants must have a valid CDL (or obtain within 90 days), pass a drug test, lift 50 lbs, and endure outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid CDL (Class A or B) or obtain one within 90 days.
• Pass and submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physical duties.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and outdoors.
• Operate basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment.
• Strong teamwork and ability to follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain highways and rights-of-way, perform clean-up and debris removal.
• Fill potholes, maintain drainage, and assist with winter operations.
• Assist traffic control during emergencies and road closures.
• Inspect and perform routine equipment maintenance and refueling.
• May supervise or assist in a supervisory capacity as needed.
