The State of Indiana is seeking a Highway Maintenance Laborer for INDOT's Monticello Unit. This entry-level role maintains highways, handles winter operations, and supports emergency response with overtime as needed, starting at $20 per hour, plus a $1 premium for CDL holders.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL required within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to pass a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical duties.
• Ability to work in varying weather and outdoor conditions.
• Experience operating basic highway maintenance/traffic equipment is a plus.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance/traffic equipment to maintain roads and rights-of-way.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Perform winter operations including snow/ice removal.
• Respond to emergencies including traffic control and signs/barricades.
• Inspect and perform routine equipment maintenance and pre-trip checks.
• Maintain and install traffic signs and pavement markings (Traffic Inventory Specialist duties).
• Record and manage inventory of materials and equipment.
• Operate inventory control systems and attend worksite as required.
