Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky in Hindman, KY is seeking a Highway Technician Assistant I to assist with roadway and roadside maintenance. You will operate equipment, control traffic, and perform essential maintenance tasks in all weather conditions.

The role requires physical fitness, safety awareness, and the ability to work extended hours with overtime opportunities. A valid driver's license is required and state CDL training may be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment and road maintenance tools.
• Knowledge of traffic control procedures and flagging safety.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Operate single axle dump trucks to haul materials and operate snowplows or salt spreaders.
• Perform brush cutting and tree maintenance using saws and axes.
• Flag traffic for maintenance crews to protect workers and the public.
• Operate snowplows and salt spreaders during winter conditions.
• Shovel blacktop and assist with roadway maintenance tasks as needed.
