Job summary

The State of Ohio invites applications for a permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) in the Cuyahoga West area. The role focuses on maintaining roadways, performing snow and ice operations, and progressing toward CDL licensure as needed.

Qualifications

• Arithmetic education including addition & subtraction; reading/writing basic English
• 3 months training or 3 months experience in operation of basic equipment; ability to read, write & speak English
• Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement (no airbrake restriction)
• Highway Maintenance is the core job skill and expected proficiency

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and help make Ohio roads safer
• Attend training to obtain CDL licensure if not already licensed
• Perform highway maintenance tasks: flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repair, litter pickup, mowing
• Carry out snow and ice operations
