Job summary

Ohio Department of Transportation in Madison County is hiring for Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1). The role supports District 06 operations, with full-time hours and a 7:00am–3:30pm schedule.

The selected candidate will maintain roads, attend CDL training if needed, and perform snow/ice operations to keep Ohio traffic safe. Compensation ranges reflect HMW1 and HT1 classifications, with a comprehensive benefits package and union support.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic including addition & subtraction and in reading, writing & speaking basic English vocabulary.
• Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and work to make Ohio roads safer.
• Attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already licensed.
• Perform highway maintenance activities including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
• Perform snow and ice operations.
