Job summary

State of Ohio in Madison County is hiring for a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) at District 6. The role focuses on keeping roads safe through maintenance, flagging, and winter operations.

The selected candidate may be placed at the appropriate classification with minimum qualifications, with opportunities for pay increases and a strong benefits package. This is a full-time on-site position in Madison County.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and work to make Ohio roads safer.
• Attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already licensed.
• Perform highway maintenance activities; including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
• Perform snow & ice operations.
