Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a highway maintenance worker to operate dump trucks and related equipment for transportation and road upkeep. You will support maintenance of highways and bridges, perform pre-trip inspections, and assist in traffic control within work zones.

A CDL and ability to lift 50 lbs are required. Positions may require extended hours or 12-hour shifts during snow, ice, or inclement weather conditions, with opportunities to work in various weather environments across

Qualifications

• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained within six months of placement.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• May require extended hours or 12-hour shifts during inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Operate 5-yard standard dump truck and flatbed truck for hauling materials (asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe).
• Operate small equipment (pneumatic rollers, asphalt kettle, sweepers) in highway/bridge maintenance operations.
• Assist with traffic control setup in work zones and act as flagger to direct traffic.
• Maintain and inspect equipment per department rules; document pre-trip inspections.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
