Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a skilled equipment operator capable of operating tandem dump trucks and supporting road maintenance crews. You will handle hauling, ditch work, pipe cleaning, and traffic control during road repairs.

Required are six months of related experience and a valid driver's license, with CDL Class A to be obtained within six months. The role may involve inclement weather and after‑hours emergencies in a dynamic field setting.

Qualifications

• Six months of related work experience or equivalent.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license; CDL Class A to be obtained within six months.

Responsibilities

• Operates a tandem dump truck hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe and debris.
• Works with maintenance crew performing ditch and shoulder work; cleans pipes and ditches.
• Flags traffic during road repairs and assists with traffic control setup.
• Operates a chainsaw to cut trees on right‑of‑way; supports inclement weather operations.
• Assists supervisor and performs related duties as assigned.
