Job summary

State of South Carolina's Department of Transportation is seeking a maintenance worker at the Richland Maintenance Ballentine Section Shed. You will operate tandem dump trucks hauling material to and from job sites and assist in road repairs.

You will also operate an injector patcher, set up traffic control devices per the SCDOT manual, and respond to emergencies or inclement weather shifts, with possible overtime and 12-hour shifts. A Class A CDL must be obtained within six months.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license upon entry.
• Requires attainment of a Class A CDL within six (6) months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Operate tandem dump truck hauling material to and from job sites.
• Operate injector patcher in pothole repairs and base surface fixes.
• Coordinate placement of traffic control devices per SCDOT guide to warn motorists.
• Assist in emergency and inclement weather operations; possible extended hours or 12-hour shifts.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
