Job summary

The Montana Department of Transportation seeks a Highway Maintenance Technician - CDL Driver / Equipment Operator in Great Falls. This role combines laboring with operating heavy equipment and trucks to support highway maintenance, culvert work, and winter snow/ice control.

Successful candidates will hold a Montana CDL Class A Type II with tank endorsement and MEC, live within 45 road miles of the Great Falls HQ, and progress through Technician I–III with wage advancement and overtime

Qualifications

• Valid Montana CDL Class A Type II license with tank endorsement and MEC.
• Must live within 45 road miles of Great Falls section HQ.
• Experience levels I–III defined by years of road maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and heavy equipment for highway maintenance.
• Perform culvert placement, cleaning and roadside maintenance.
• Conduct crack/mastic sealing, fence building and bridge repair.
• Install guardrails, luminaire maintenance, pavement marking and snow/ice control.
