Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking a Highway Maintenance Technician – CDL Driver/Equipment Operator for the Baker area. The role involves operating trucks and heavy equipment to perform a wide range of highway maintenance tasks in the Baker section, including culverts, landslide work, sealing, and bridge/guardrail duties.

The position is part of a career ladder with advancement opportunities; a valid CDL Class A with Tank endorsement and MEC are required, plus relocation

Qualifications

• Valid Montana CDL with Class A, Type II and tank endorsement.
• Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC) must be current.
• Experience: 1+ year driving heavy trucks or operating construction equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and heavy equipment for highway maintenance.
• Perform culvert placement, landslide removal, sealing, fence building, and bridge repairs.
• Install/maintain guardrails, signs, and luminaires; conduct roadway and vegetation maintenance.
• Conduct pavement marking and striping; manage snow and ice control duties.
