Job summary

Douglas County seeks a Maintenance Worker to operate heavy equipment for county road maintenance, snow plowing, and repairs. You will work under a foreman, perform on-call winter duties, and complete CDL permits after training.

Responsibilities include plowing, patching, vegetation control, traffic control, and recording time and equipment usage while upholding safety standards. On-site position with seasonally variable hours and potential night shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have valid driver’s license; Class A CDL within three months of hire.
• Experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
• Ability to work extended hours including nights and weekends during winter/snow events.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, dozers, rollers, graders, excavators, and snowplows as directed.
• Plow, sand, patch roads, and perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment.
• Patch and seal road surfaces; manage vegetation along roadways.
• Direct traffic in work zones and ensure safety compliance.
• Document time, equipment usage, and material usage accurately.
