Job summary

State of South Carolina's Department of Transportation seeks a maintenance worker to perform skilled manual labor on roads and bridges, operate medium equipment, and assist with traffic control and emergency operations. The role may require extended hours or 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of related work experience or equivalent.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.
• CDL Class A license required within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled manual labor in construction, repair, and preservation of roads and bridges on the state highway system.
• Operates medium equipment, including a tandem dump truck, to haul materials and perform related tasks.
• Coordinates placement of traffic control devices to set up maintenance work zones per SCDOT guidelines.
• Picks up litter, debris, and dead animals.
• Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations.
• May be available for extended working hours or 12-hour shifts.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
