Job summary

Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) in Ely, Nevada is recruiting for a Highway Maintenance Worker 4. The role leads maintenance crews, serves as a certified equipment operator, and trains lower-level staff while coordinating scheduling and safety for road maintenance on state roadways.

This on-site, safety-sensitive position requires proficiency with a range of highway maintenance equipment and the ability to respond to emergencies, including snow removal and road repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule routine maintenance activities and emergencies.
• Operate and maintain highway maintenance and construction equipment to restore and maintain roadways.
• Provide training and oversight for lower-level staff as a designated certified operator.
• Establish traffic controls in maintenance zones and during incidents.
• Respond to emergencies, snow removal, and related duties as needed.
• Monitor contract compliance and quality control of contractors.
• Maintain landscaping and right-of-way areas and recover from accidents.
