345 DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION in Edmond, OK is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator at multiple levels to maintain highways. You will operate power equipment, perform routine maintenance, and support road projects under supervision.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe operation and maintenance of power equipment or heavy machinery.
• Ability to perform manual labor and operate power equipment; follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment such as trucks, tractors, road graders, dozers, front-end loaders, cranes, backhoes, and other equipment as needed.
• Performs minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Repairs failures in the roadway shoulders or bridge decks.
• Repairs and/or replaces signs, posts, guardrails and fences.
• Provides traffic control assistance using a stop/slow sign or flag to direct highway traffic.
• Applies herbicide to highway right‑of‑ways to control weeds and other unwanted vegetation.
• Removes debris including tires, animal carcass, spilled items and other obstacles.]
